Scrum Master to Help Organize New Business Lines

The Challenge

A team within AB InBev focused on expanding growth of new products in North America was looking to work in an agile way. They were seeking 1-2 additional scrum masters to own the agile scrum framework as a methodology for helping teams deliver products, taking ownership of scrum routines that are foundational to agile delivery and how work is delivered.

Working with Catalant

The expert was a founder of a boutique management and technology consultancy focused on data science, digital transformations, and agile delivery leadership. Prior to starting his own consultancy, the expert was a management consultant and analyst at an IT consultancy in its practice that focused on delivery leadership, organizational effectiveness and change management. The expert also had a MS in Data Science from Northwestern University.

The Work

The expert supported and promoted agile and scrum as the team’s way of working by guiding and training teams in scrum theory, practices, rules, and values. He supported Scrum Owners by ensuring that scrum teams understood the goals, scope, and products required, in addition to helping the team understand and manage the product backlog to maximize value and removing impediments to the scrum team’s progress.

The Result

The scrum master was able to help the teams build a work environment where work execution and velocity became visible to all stakeholders, utilizing visual workplace techniques and tools. He was able to work with the team until they were self-sufficient, completing the goals of the project within 277 days instead of 344 days.

The Value
