Nearly a decade ago, 12%-to-15% of the world’s total workforce was considered “non-employee.” Four years ago, that number doubled to 30% in the wake of a global economic recovery period. Today, with the rise of “on-demand” talent and an increasing reliance on contingent labor, 40% of the current global workforce is considered non-employee.
