In this role, Sue leads Business Innovations, a multimodal innovation engine focused on accelerating promising start-ups in GE Ventures, creating and launching new companies, licensing GE’s intellectual property, developing new markets, and nurturing innovative ideas into scalable initiatives both inside and outside of GE. She also leads strategy planning efforts across the company and oversees the global brand and marketing function. To date, Sue and her team have led the creation and launch of seven new companies including Drawbridge Health, Avitas Systems, Vineti and Evidation Health, funded and accelerated growth for 100+ companies and led the creation of a novel licensing model for GE’s library of patents – connecting technology and ideas to create new avenues to growth.

Previously, as a Silicon Valley-based venture capitalist at MDV, Sue led investments and served as Board member for companies in personalized medicine, digital health, and life sciences. Prior to that, Sue served as President and Board Member of Affymetrix (NASDAQ: AFFX), where she led the company’s transformation from a pre -revenue startup to a global, multi-billion dollar market cap genomics leader. She also led strategy, technology development, licensing, manufacturing, and new market creation and development at leading organizations including Bio-Rad, DuPont and Amersham.

Sue has been recognized in Fortune as one of “34 Leaders Who Are Changing Health Care” and as one of “The 100 Most Influential Women in Silicon Valley” by Silicon Valley Business Journal. She is an Aspen Institute Crown Fellow and was featured as a “Multiplier” in the bestselling book: “Multipliers: How the Best Leaders Make Everyone Smarter.”

Sue holds an M.S. from Boston University School of Medicine and a B.S. from the University of Puerto Rico. She lives in Silicon Valley with her husband and has two sons. She is an avid hiker and loves to spend time on the scenic trails of Northern California

Jim Koch

Founder, Boston Beer Company

Mr. Koch founded Boston Beer in 1984 and currently serves as its Chairman. Until January 2001, Mr. Koch also served as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer. He also served as the Company’s Secretary and Clerk until May 2010. Prior to starting Boston Beer, he had worked as a consultant for an international consulting firm, with a focus on manufacturing.

His thirty-four years at the helm of Boston Beer, during which it has grown from a small start-up company to its current position as a leading craft brewer, are a testament to his skill in brewing, strategy, brand development, and industry leadership.

Caroline Missen

Business Advisor to Downstream Director, Shell

Caroline Missen is the Business Advisor to Shell’s Downstream Director. She joined Shell 15 years ago in the UK and has held a number of European and international marketing roles in the Global Commercial business covering B2B segments, automotive manufacturers and channel partners, based in London, Beijing and in Washington DC. More recently Caroline has been focused on digitalization for Shell, piloting new business models and non-traditional approaches to working.

In Australia, she worked with Ford, and in executive roles with two industry associations. She also owned and managed a boutique winery for five years. Caroline has a Science degree from the University of Melbourne and a Masters in Marketing from Monash University. She is a Trustee of London based charity, The Food Chain and has recently become Chair of Balance, Shell’s employee network focused on driving gender equality in the UK, building on her passion for developing and mentoring people.

Fabio Kapitanovas

VP of People and Management, Anheuser-Busch InBev

Mr. Kapitanovas is Ambev’s People and Management Executive Officer. Since 2000, when he joined the Company as a trainee, he held several positions, including Regional Industrial Officer – South/SPI, Corporate Executive Officer of Logistics Projects and Executive Officer of the Shared Services Center. He has a degree in mechanical engineering from Politécnica de São Paulo, in addition to a Corporate MBA from Ambev. He participated in the AIGLE Program (Instead – Wharton Alliance) and in the Global Supply Chain Logistics Program, from MIT.

Kristin Sharp

Executive Director of Shift, New America/Bloomberg

Kristin Sharp directs New America’s Initiative on Work, Workers, and Technology. In 2016, she co-founded and ran Shift: The Commission on Work, Workers, and Technology, a joint project of New America and Bloomberg.

Prior to launching SHIFT, she had an extensive career in technology, innovation, and national security policy in the U.S. Senate, most recently serving as deputy chief of staff to Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), and the architect of his initiative examining the impact of the on-demand economy and contingent workforce on capitalism.

In the Senate, Sharp also held positions as legislative director for Sens. Mark Pryor (D-Ark.) and Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.). In addition, she held a variety of senior staff roles on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee and was an advisor to Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

In addition to her work at New America, she is a frequent speaker on the future of work and advises a variety of private start-ups and venture capital firms. Sharp is a member of the board of the Herbert Scoville Peace Fellowship. She has an M.A. from Duke University in Political Science, and a B.A. from the University of Michigan. Go Blue!

Dan Nova

Partner, Highland Capital

Dan joined Highland in 1996 as a Partner to establish and build the firm’s internet investment practice.

He continues to be an active investor focusing on technology and consumer investments with specific experience and interest in internet, digital marketing and media technologies. Dan has led the firm’s investments and served on the boards of a number of successful companies including: Amp Resources (acquired by Enel), Ask Jeeves (IPO), BeFree (IPO), Coremetrics (acquired by IBM), eToys (IPO), Fastclick (IPO, acquired by ValueClick), Gamesville (acq’d by Lycos), Lycos (IPO), MapQuest (IPO, acquired by AOL), N2 Broadband (acquired by TANDBERG), Navic Networks (acquired by Microsoft), NextCard (IPO), NYTimes Digital (acquired by New York Times), Qihoo 360 (IPO), (acquired by Lycos), Raindance (IPO), RoweCom (IPO), StyleFeeder (acquired by Time, Inc.) and YogaWorks (acquired by Great Hill Partners).

His current portfolio includes CafeMedia, Catalant, Kyruus, RapidSOS, Remote Year, Rent The Runway, ThredUp, Trilogy Education Services and Yipit. Dan has been recognized by the prestigious Forbes Midas List as one of the top venture capitalists in the industry.

Prior to joining Highland in 1996, Dan was a Partner at CMG@Ventures where he co-led the partnership’s investment activities in early-stage internet companies. While at CMG@Ventures, Dan conceived of and formed Lycos, Inc. after securing an exclusive technology license from Carnegie Mellon University. Dan provided the initial (and only) venture capital investment, recruited the senior management team, and played an integral role from the company’s inception through its IPO and eventual sale as a public company. Prior to joining CMG@Ventures Dan was a Senior Associate at Summit Partners focused on later-stage technology and clean tech investments. He also worked at Wang Laboratories from 1983 through 1989 in a variety of sales management and sales positions.

Dan earned a B.S., Computer Science and Marketing from Boston College and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.

David Fialkow

Co-founder and Managing Director, General Catalyst

David Fialkow is a co-founder and managing director of General Catalyst, a venture capital firm with offices in Boston, New York, and Silicon Valley, and approximately $5 billion in total capital raised. His portfolio of investments includes: CLEAResult (acquired by General Atlantic); Datalogix (acquired by Oracle); Datto (acquired by Vista Equity); Highwinds; and Vitrue (acquired by Oracle). He is a graduate from Colgate University and Boston College Law School.

His non-profit boards include Facing History and Ourselves and The Pan-Mass Challenge. David is on the board of Boston Beer Company and is Chair of the Investment Advisory Committee of The Engine (MIT). David and his wife Nina produce documentary films focusedon social justice, including their two most recent films, Bending the Arc and Icarus, for which he won the 2017 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film.

Tricia Patrick

Managing Director, Advent International

Tricia Patrick joined Advent International in 2016 as a Managing Director focusing on buyouts and growth equity investments in the retail, consumer and leisure sector. Prior to Advent, Ms. Patrick spent 15 years investing across both Bain Capital Private Equity and the Private Equity Group of Goldman, Sachs & Co. She has closed transactions across the retail, healthcare, business services, real estate and media sectors as well as internationally. Her current directorships include lululemon (NASDAQ: LULU) and First Watch Restaurants. Ms. Patrick earned an AB in Biochemical Sciences cum laude from Harvard College and an MBA, with high distinction, as a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School.

Charlie Schilling

General Manager of Enterprise Business, General Assembly

Charlie Schilling is the General Manager of the Enterprise Business and a member of the Executive Committee at General Assembly. General Assembly (GA) is a pioneer in education and career transformation, specializing in today’s most in-demand skills. Prior to joining GA, Charlie was General Manager, Corporate Markets at GLG, a member of the CEO’s Office at Bloomberg LP, and a consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Charlie began his career as an investment banker focused on technology, media, and telecom. Charlie holds a B.A from Georgetown University and an M.B.A from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.

Meghan Verena Joyce

General Manager, Uber North America

Meghan Verena Joyce is Senior Director and Regional General Manager for Uber US & Canada. She is responsible for business outcomes as well as rider and driver experience in 244 Uber markets across the US and Canada. Over the past several months, she led US & Canada Rides, Uber’s largest business, as Uber reported 70% YoY growth and $2.5B in quarterly profits. She also led the much-discussed (and entirely internally produced) “Moving Forward” campaign, which is aimed at give Uber a fresh start with riders and drivers and has included such new features and policies like in-app Emergency Assistance and strengthened driver screening.

Meghan has been a leading voice in Uber’s culture turnaround and brand transformation efforts. Uber’s CEO Dara Khosrowshahi and COO Barney Harford recently charged her with an (also much-discussed) initiative to tackle internal bureaucracy and move faster across the company’s global Rides organization. She also oversees Uber’s HBX program, which last year brought strategy and leadership training to over 6,000 of Uber’s 15,000+ employees around the world.

Meghan joined Uber in 2013 as the General Manager of the Boston market, where she oversaw unprecedented growth of the market and expanded coverage throughout New England. During her tenure, she launched Uber in Rhode Island, Cape Cod and Western Massachusetts. She later served as Regional General Manager of the East Coast, and spearheaded a global effort to scale Uber’s carpooling option, uberPOOL, by coordinating product and operational teams.

Meghan is a Co-Chair of the Robert S. Brookings Society at the Brookings Institution, a member of the Board of Overseers of Big Brothers Big Sisters Massachusetts Bay, and a member of the Executive Advisory Council of WBUR, Boston’s NPR news station. She received her Bachelor of Arts in the History of Science from Harvard College and her MBA at Harvard Business School.

Deborah Quazzo

Managing Partner, GSV Acclera TE

Deborah is the Managing Partner of GSV AcceleraTE, a venture capital fund investing in exceptional entrepreneurs and their companies in the $75B education and talent technology sector. In addition, she is the Co-founder and Managing Partner of the ASU+GSV Summit and Founder and Senior Advisor of GSV Advisors. Now in its 10th year, the ASU+GSV Summit celebrates innovations and innovators across the global “preK to Gray” learning and talent landscape and attracts over 4,000 attendees.

Deborah currently serves on the boards of Ascend Learning (a portfolio company of Blackstone and CCCP), Degreed, The Educational Testing Service (ETS), Lightneer, Remind, and (NASDAQ: WWWW). She is a board observer at CreativeLive and RaiseMe, and an advisory board member of Area9 Lyceum. Deborah received the 2014 Arnold M. Berlin ’46 Distinguished Service to Princeton Award from the Princeton University Club of Chicago, the 2014 Visionary of the Year Award from CFY PowerMyLearning, the 2016 LEAP Innovator in Education “Champion” Award from LEAP Innovations, the 2016 Inaugural Impact Award from Golden Apple Foundation, and the 2017 Visionary Award from the Association of American Publishers (AAP). Deborah graduated cum laude with a BA in history from Princeton University in 1982 and an MBA from Harvard University in 1987.

Stuart Kliman

Stuart Kliman is a founder and Partner of Vantage Partners, a strategy and management consulting and training firm that helps its clients devise and implement transformational strategies through the power of more effective internal and external collaboration. Stuart works with his clients on issues of the Future of Work, on change management, and how best to leverage partnerships across the value chain. He is a well-known speaker and writer on these issues. He received his JD cum laude from the Harvard Law School.

Scott Kirsner

Columnist at the Boston Globe & Editor and Co-Founder of Innovation Leader

Scott Kirsner is Editor and Co-Founder of Innovation Leader, a Boston-based information service focused on helping innovators in large companies. Scott has spent two decades as a business journalist and contributing editor at the Boston Globe, Wired Magazine, Fast Company, Variety, The New York Times, BusinessWeek and other publications. His focus on how innovations that matter get introduced to the world has taken him to the White House, the Sundance Film Festival, the United Nations, and the innovation labs of Google, Disney, General Motors, Delta Air Lines, iRobot, and many other companies. Scott is the author of several books on innovation and technology, including a highly-acclaimed collaboration with George Lucas, “Inventing the Movies,” which explores the challenge of bringing new ideas to a century-old, change-resistant industry: Hollywood.

Antonis Christidis

Partner & Workforce of the Future Co-Leader at Mercer

Antonis is a Partner in Mercer’s Career business. He currently co-leads the Mercer and Oliver Wyman partnership in helping organizations transform their workforces for the future.

He joined Mercer in 2009 as a Principal consultant. He is actively engaged in helping organizations understand and incorporate future workforce and workplace trends that will shape the relationships between employers and employees. He has extensive experience working with Consumer Goods, Automotive, Technology, Energy and Engineering organizations all over the world.

Antonis is a regular conference speaker. He is passionate both about the past and the future. In his current role he is thinking about how technology and new ways of working disrupt established norms, both in the marketplace and within organizations.

Antonis holds a B.Com in Economics and Business Administration from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa and a M.Sc in Financial and Business Economics from the University of Essex in the UK. He has lived and worked in Greece, South Africa, the UK, Brazil and South East Asia and held regional roles working across Europe. He is now based in New York.

Joe Fuller

Professor of Management Practice, Harvard Business School

Joseph Fuller is a Professor of Management Practice in General Management and co-leads the school’s initiative, Managing the Future of Work. He currently teaches the General Management Processes and Action course in the second year of the MBA program and formerly headed The Entrepreneurial Manager course in the program’s first year. A 1981 graduate of the school, Joe was a founder and first employee of the global consulting firm, Monitor Group, now Monitor-Deloitte. He served as the Chief Executive Officer of its commercial consulting operations until 2006 and remained a Senior Advisor to the firm until its acquisition by Deloitte in 2012. During his three decades in consulting, Fuller worked with senior executives and policymakers on a wide variety of issues related to corporate strategy and national competitiveness. He has particularly deep experience in industries with a heavy reliance on technology, such as life sciences, ICT and the defense and aerospace industries. He is currently researching the evolution of the role of the CEOs and the C-suite in public companies.

Kate Gulliver

Vice President, Global Head of Talent, WayFair

Kate lead the Talent team at Wayfair where she is responsible for global human capital management including recruiting, organization design, compensation, talent analytics and learning and development. Kate started her career at Wayfair as the Head of Investor Relations. Prior to joining the Wayfair team Kate was a private equity investor at Bain Capital for nearly 5 years. She started her career as a consultant with McKinsey & Company. Kate holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA from Yale University.

Peter Mahoney

Founder & CEO, Plannuh, inc.

Peter is the founder and CEO of a Boston-based SaaS marketing software firm called Plannuh.  Plannuh is used by marketing professionals to build, manage, and collaborate on their marketing plans and budgets.

An active member of the Boston tech scene, Peter is a board member and advisor to CEOs and CMOs.

Before founding Plannuh in early 2017, Peter spent nearly 30 years in executive roles at several leading technology companies in the Boston area.  Most recently, Peter spent 13 years at Nuance Communications, where he was the Chief Marketing Officer and Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Dragon voice recognition software business.

Peter is also a passionate advocate for people with disabilities and has spent much of his professional career working with accessible technologies.  He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board Emeritus of Easter Seals Massachusetts.

Peter grew up in Boston, graduated from Boston Latin School and earned degrees in Physics and Computer Science from Boston College. He lives in Newton Centre with his wife and three young-adult children.

Craig Buerstatte

Director of Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, US Department of Commerce

Craig Buerstatte is a former Army Officer turned entrepreneur, having first tested his innovation skills in remote areas of Iraq, developing new supply chain solutions when resources were strained. Craig received the Bronze Star Medal in 2009 for his creative combat leadership and leveraged this experience to found a technology firm in Austin, Texas, and later transitioned into venture capital before returning back to public service in 2014 to help build the Office of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (OIE) at the US Department of Commerce.

Today, Craig serves as Acting Director for OIE; working to foster a more innovative economy through policy initiatives and grant programs that focus on turning new ideas and inventions into businesses that create jobs, increase competitiveness, and economic growth. ​This capacity-building mindset is the focus of the Regional Innovation Strategies Program, OIE’s flagship grant program that has over $125 million to support business incubators, accelerators and the creation of early-stage venture funds. These programs have created over 6,000 jobs, helped raise over $200 million in venture capital, and support the commercialization of hundreds of market-changing technologies.

Craig earned a B.S. in Economics from The United States Military Academy at West Point, and an MBA from the Fuqua School of Business at Duke University, but learned much more from founding businesses and working with startups.

Matt Jahansouz

Managing Director, Global Head of Recruiting Goldman Sachs

Matt is global head of Human Capital Management (HCM) strategy and branding. In this role, he helps develop and drive the firm’s people strategy, and is responsible for helping position Goldman Sachs as an employer of choice. Previously, Matt was global head of recruiting for the firm. Prior to that, he served as chief of staff for HCM and worked across several areas within the division. Matt joined Goldman Sachs in 2010 as a vice president and was named managing director in 2015.

Prior to joining the firm, Matt worked in the HR Transformation practice of Deloitte Consulting LLP.

Matt earned a BS in Finance from The Pennsylvania State University.

Raquel Suarez

Global HR Innovation and Leadership Development Director at Unilever

Raquel is a thought leader whose purpose is to increase people’s welfare by powering up technology. She believes in the digital revolution as a key enabler for exponential human’s development releasing time for purposeful work and self. Today, she is the Open Talent Economy global lead in Unilever as well as SEAA talent and digital Innovation Dir. She has implemented E2E Digital recruitment processes and has provided Unilever with the first digital external-internal marketplace powered by AI matching tools, resulting in an increased capability and capacity for business growth while boosting people purposeful development within a flexible and agile environment.

Bryan Fontaine

Executive Vice President, Global Operations & Corporate Development Engineering at Bose

Bryan Fontaine is Executive Vice President, Global Operations & Corporate Development Engineering. His areas of responsibility include Human Resources, Corporate Support Services, Legal, Lean Enterprise Deployment, Corporate Development Engineering, and Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain.

Bryan began his career with Bose Corporation in 2004 as the Vice President of Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain. Prior to joining Bose, Bryan served in leadership roles at Digital Equipment Corporation, Quantum Corporation, and was Vice President of Manufacturing at EMC Corporation. He has over 30 years of high tech experience with deep knowledge in areas of process development, operations, supply chain management, quality management, and new product introduction. He is responsible for a worldwide organization of over 8,000 employees.

Under Bryan’s leadership, numerous strategic initiatives have been implemented, designed to bring value to Bose. These included the implementation of a corporate wide sourcing program, the implementation of Lean Six Sigma, numerous operational excellence programs across the Bose factories, strategy alignment processes with all the Business Units, and focused leadership development and mentoring programs for talent development.

Bryan holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Northeastern University.

Craig Driscoll

Partner at Highland Capital Partners

Growing up outside of Boston and close to the MIT/Kendall Square technology community, Craig developed a strong curiosity for technology and entrepreneurship. That early passion for technology has translated into a career working in the venture capital industry as an entrepreneur, executive recruiter and investor.

Over the past 11 years at Highland Capital Partners, Craig has led all talent and recruiting activity for the firm. He advises Highland’s portfolio companies on executive recruiting issues. Craig has helped build the leadership teams of some of the most innovative technology companies across a range of industries and geographies.

More recently, Craig has leveraged his broad networks and team building acumen to pursue investments in several areas including the Future of Work. Craig is on the board of Remote Year and Trilogy Education Services, and actively involved with Catalant, INXPO, and SessionM. He was previously active with the boards of Bullhorn (acquired by Vista Equity) and Quattro (acquired by Apple).

Craig joined Highland from Korn/Ferry International where he was an executive recruiter in Korn/Ferry’s Boston office focusing on venture-backed technology companies. He completed C-level, Board of Director and senior executive placements at several industry leading companies.

Previously, Craig was Vice President, Business Development at JacobsRimell, a London-based software startup and Fidelity Ventures’ portfolio company. Craig was an Associate at Fidelity Ventures where he focused on investments in the communication infrastructure sector. Craig also worked as a research analyst at the Yankee Group.

Craig was a founding team member of Beacon Power Corporation, an alternative energy company. He began his career with SatCon Technology Corporation, a publicly traded technology company.

Craig holds a B.E., Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University.
